I've decided to compete…

Yesterday, I made a decision. I decided to enter a rowing competition and duplicate the success I had 18 years ago.

Eighteen years ago I was living overseas and to keep in shape purchased a Concept2 Ergometer. I got in such good shape that I submitted my distance for the 30 minute rowing event and, for my age and weight class, placed 118th in the world! (7,017 meters)

And so… here it is 18 years later and I’ve gotten waaaaaay out of shape. But about 5 weeks ago I started a fitness program to get back into shape and I’m seeing GREAT results. So good in fact, that yesterday I made a decision to set a goal to once again place 118th in the world for my age and weight class.

In order to do that (assuming that the current standings remain valid), I’ll need to row just over 7,829 meters in 30 minutes.

So, in classic web log fashion, I’m going to log my progress throughout the year.

And I’d appreciate it if you would follow me and occasionally cheer me on!
