I agree with you on the point that there would be no company without the vision and drive of it&#039;s founder.  However, once the company is established and running, then (although having a vision and drive are still essential) the company&#039;s continued success and growth relies on having customers.
Everyone in the organization is important and each person continues to play an important role.  And that one of the messages in the article.  I recently wrote another article (The Zen of Leadership) which talks about how a leader&#039;s role is fluid and keeps changing.  I don&#039;t think that having a Servant Leader philosophy means that a head of the company is unimportant.  It simply acknowledges that having a servant attitude can be very impactful on the success of a company.

what is is that the company was grounded ? not customers ! but craftmenship , calling, mission, vocation, i don&#039;t know the best word in English.  Without the driven force of the founder to fullfill his calling there never had been a company. 

then there is an influence by the customer , but without the &quot;personal engine&quot;  (the calling) the company is only hunting for customers and does not have a personal own face.</description>
